Respair (n.): fresh hope; the return of light

Rare & Respair is a curatorial practice based in Northern Virginia, founded and curated by Leah Thomas. We offer thoughtfully selected vintage and antique objects, as well as curated collections and collection-building services, bringing historical objects into conversation with contemporary life.

My work draws on my professional background in museums and art history, while remaining grounded in the belief that objects are not static, but participants in carrying forward accumulated traces of human use, memory, and meaning.

Through research, observation, and thoughtful placement, I create the conditions for those histories to become visible and for new relationships to form. Whether encountered individually or as part of a larger collection, each object is selected for the particular history, character, and sense of place it can bring into a home.
