Shipping & Delivery
Rare & Respair ships vintage and antique objects with care, using packaging and shipping methods appropriate to each individual piece. Because every object is different, we take particular care with fragile ceramics, glass, textiles, and other historic materials.
Shipping Rates
Shipping within the United States is calculated according to the size and shipping requirements of your order:
$8 — Small objects and lighter orders
$14 — Medium-sized orders
$22 — Larger or heavier orders
$50 — Oversized or especially substantial orders
The applicable shipping rate will be shown at checkout.
At this time, Rare & Respair ships within the United States only.
Local Pickup
Local pickup is available for customers in the Northern Virginia area.
If you would prefer to collect your purchase rather than have it shipped, please select the Local Pickup option at checkout when available. Pickup arrangements will be confirmed after your order is placed.
Local pickup is by appointment and takes place at the Rare & Respair studio in Aldie, Virginia. The pickup address and instructions will be provided privately when your appointment is arranged.
Please do not arrive for pickup without a confirmed appointment.
Processing Time
Most orders are carefully packed and shipped within 3–5 business days of purchase.
Some objects require additional preparation or specialized packing. If your order needs more time than expected, we will contact you with an update.
Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information by email.
For local pickup orders, we will contact you to arrange a convenient pickup time.
Packing Your Order
Vintage and antique objects often have unusual shapes, delicate surfaces, or decades of accumulated character. We select packaging materials and methods according to the individual object, with particular attention to protecting fragile materials and finishes.
Whenever possible, we reuse clean, suitable packing materials as part of our commitment to thoughtful stewardship.
Please retain your packaging until you are certain that your order has arrived safely and that you are satisfied with your purchase.
Delivery
Delivery times vary by carrier and destination. Tracking information will provide the most current estimate once your order is in transit.
Rare & Respair is not responsible for delays caused by the carrier, weather, natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond our control. We will, however, do our best to assist if a shipping issue arises.
Please make sure your shipping address is correct at the time of purchase. We cannot guarantee that an order can be redirected once it has shipped.
Damaged in Transit
We take great care in packing every order, but vintage objects can occasionally be damaged during transit.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible after delivery and include photographs of:
The damaged object
The packaging and protective materials
The exterior of the shipping box, including any visible damage
The shipping label
Please retain the object and all original packaging until the matter has been resolved, as these may be required for a carrier claim.
